Dubbo Fringe Festival

Did you know that Newcastle and Dubbo are sister cities? And that the Golden Highway was built to give us a #bushtobeach trek? It’s all true, and so, Newcastle Fringe Festival Inc. has decided to share the fringey love and set up a satellite fringe event in Dubbo. We’re excited to establish a regional festival in Dubbo to enhance the vibrancy of the NSW fringe movement and to create a localised touring circuit for artists. Our aim is to provide artists with more opportunity to develop their practice and to build audiences. Plus the greater Dubbo region gets to enjoy more edgy, diverse, grassroots and fun performance that will attract more visitors to the central west. To make it happen, we will work closely with Council, venues, artists, local arts organisations, media and volunteers from the Dubbo community. There is great local support for a Dubbo Fringe from artists, cultural groups and the community at large. It is our policy to encourage, welcome and participate with other cultural groups in Dubbo and surrounding areas to make the Dubbo Fringe totally inclusive of all. Dubbo Fringe will take place the second weekend of May for 3 days, beginning on Thursday 6 May and finishing on Saturday 8 May 2021. This timing does not conflict with other events in Dubbo nor does it clash with other fringe festivals in Australasia.
